Audience research

For my audience research I had to collect information about what people like to see in music magazines. To do this I made a questionnaire on Survey Monkey. I was able to create a range of questions so I could find out lots of information about what should be featured in my magazine.

As you can see from this graph, my target audidnce will be people between the ages of 15-19. I will be able to include relevant information which 15-19 year olds will want to read.

As this graph shows, most people listen to music every day. Therefore showing music is a big part of peoples lives.

This graph is very important as it shows what genre of music people like therefore determining what type of music I will put in my magazines. As you can see from the data on the graph, there is not one genre which is most popular, therefore I will include most genres of music in my magazine however I will not include 'House' or 'Screamo' as these are the least popular.

This graph shows how often people buy thier music magazines. As you can see, the majority of people buy thier magazines every month meaning I will issue the magazines monthly.

This graph shows if people like old or new music. As you can see, only 25% of the people I asked like old music, however this is still a substantial amount, meaning I will include a seperate section in the magazine of less modern music.



This graph shows how much people would normally spend on music magazines and the largest percentage is  45.5% towards £2-3. Therefore I will price the magazine at this price as it is an affordable price yet will still make enough money. 

This graph shows if people prefer more pictures or text in music magazines. The graph shows that people prefer more pictures however the statistic is quite even so I will include a mixture of writing and pictures in the magazine.

The graph here shows if people prefer music magazines to come out weekly or monthly and people prefer them to come out monthly, so as I mentioned before, I will release the magazine monthly.

Overall I think the research I did was quite successful however if I was to make one criticism it would be that I should have asked the question "Do you like bright colours in music magazines?" As this would have given me an idea of this topic.

My quantitive research I complied was very useful as it allowed me to clearly see what had to definitely go in the magazine. My qualititive reaserch was also helpful as it allowed me to see peoples opinions and views on different topics other than a simple answer.
