Working title for the magazine
I have decided on the name Beats.
udience- Demographic
I have decided to aim my magazine at 15-35 year olds as my research showed that this is the main age group who buy magazines. I have not aimed the magazine at a specific gender as I found out that both males and females buy music magazines.
Target audience- Psychographic
The readers of music magazines like different genres of music like; rock, pop, hip-hop, indie, metal, rap. However I think I will aim at the Rock, Indie and Pop genres as they seen to be the most popular. The readers also want to hear about; gigs, festivals, artists , local bands and fashion. Therefore I will include all of these points and I will include relative adverts to do with these.
Price Point
The price point was one of the main issues that readers of music magazines had as a lot of people thought they were all quite expensive. (£4.00- £6.00). Therefore I have decided to price my magazine cheaper than this as I believe more people will be attracted to buy if it is less expensive. I will price the magazine at £2.50 as it will still make money, but is cheaper than most other magazines.
Weekly or monthly
I have decided I will issue the magazine monthly. The reason for this is because my audience research shows that people prefer to buy magazines monthly as then they tend to contain more, consise information and they also dont have to spend money every week.
Content
I have decided I will have a broad genre of music in the magazine as my research shows there are lots of genres people listen to, however they are also open to listen to other types of music genre. I think i wil sway the magazine towards the indie genre however as this seems to be the strongest and most likely to sell. I will also include fashion and art into the magazine as people that listen to music also tend to like these things too.
Style
A lot of magazines these days seem to use rough, unrefined text and pictures. However I think I will have a more upper class approach. I will however not include classical music as most youngsters dont listen to this, however the magazine will be modern and stylish. I will still use informal language I will use will be informal and suitable for the younger audience as this is important.
USP or position in the market
I think my music magazine will be different from others in the market as it will have a more modern, stlyish magazine. It will be layed out like magazines like "Stuff" Which is modern but will be different from it as it will include music and will cover a range of topics, unlike other magazines in the market which tend to specialise in one genre, I intend to cover many. However I will target the strongest audiences mainly, like the indie and rock scene.
